AUGMENTED AND VIRTUAL REALITY

1. WEB BANNER ITS EXTENDED REALITY LABORATORY
Brindisi/Alessano office

To Whom?

The lab is designed for students who want to acquire practical skills in the use of immersive technologies and advanced decision support systems, with particular interest in: critical infrastructure security, advanced maintenance and guided procedures, digitalization of industrial processes, intelligent systems and XR applications, technological innovation for the civil and industrial sectors.

It is ideal for those who want to integrate tools extended reality, 3D visualization, remote collaboration e data management techniques in their educational and professional path.

The Extended Reality Lab offers students an advanced environment to experiment with immersive technologies applied to engineering, infrastructure security, and complex process management. Using Microsoft HoloLens 2 headsets and the XGear platform, the lab allows them to view and manipulate interactive 3D holograms, simulate operational procedures, and work with technical content compliant with the S1000D standard.

The goal is to develop real skills in Mixed Reality, tele-assistance e digital knowledge management, preparing professionals capable of operating in industrial, civil and public utility contexts.

In the Extended Reality Lab, students learn how to use and integrate XR technologies into real-world scenarios. Activities include:

  • View and interact with 3D holograms using gestures, voice commands, and eye-tracking.

  • Create and manage technical content (text, images, PDFs, videos, 3D models) through the XGear desktop app, with publishing to a local or cloud repository.

  • Use of standard-compliant technical content S1000D, used in the industrial and aerospace sectors.

  • Quick recall of procedures via QR code.

  • Work in mode offline (local cache) and online (real-time synchronization).

  • Testing of systems of tele-assistance and telepresence through Microsoft Teams.

  • Understanding the functional architecture at layers: devices, applications, authoring, data repositories, and collaboration services.

Students learn to design complete operational flows: authoring → publishing → synchronization on viewers → use in the field → content updating.

The laboratory is equipped with advanced technological equipment, designed to guarantee an immersive and professional experience:

  • Microsoft HoloLens 2 headsets (Standard Edition) for MR interaction with gesture, voice and eye-tracking.

  • XGear Wearable Licenses for enjoying XR content directly on viewers.

  • XGear Desktop License for the creation, management and packaging of technical content.

  • HP Workstations high-performance with i7-13700K processor, 32 GB RAM and RTX 3070 GPU.

  • 55” Monitor with bracket for demonstrations and collaborative sessions.

  • HP notebooks with Ryzen 5* CPU and dedicated GPU, ideal for authoring and development activities.

  • Complete stations with ergonomic desks and chairs.

  • Network and power accessories for the correct setup of activities.

  • XGear Content Pack (demo) with ready-to-use 3D procedures and scenes.

COURSE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
