ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (METALS)
Brindisi office
To Whom?
The workshop is designed for students who want to:
- specialize in metal additive manufacturing and PBF/LPBF technologies;
- understand the entire workflow, from metal powder to finished component;
- acquire skills required by Industry 4.0 in the field design, production and quality control;
- work in high-tech environments, with certified systems and advanced safety procedures.
It is particularly suitable for those aspiring to technical and engineering roles in companies that use manufacturing processes. Additive Manufacturing metals.
The Metal Additive Manufacturing Laboratory is the industrial heart of the path dedicated to metallic 3D printing.
Here students work with technologies Powder Bed Fusion (PBF/LPBF) real, using professional systems to produce high-performance metal components with complex geometries: lattices, internal channels, part consolidation.
The aim is to train people capable of designing, managing and optimising processes Additive Manufacturing for metals, ready to operate in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, energy, biomedical and advanced mechanics.
In laboratory activities, students:
- explore the main technologies of AM metallic: PBF/LPBF, SLM/DMLS, EBM, comparing their operation and applications;
- they study the PBF machine subsystems: laser source, optics and scanner, recoater, process chamber, gas flow and filtration systems;
- learn to set the process parameters (power, scan speed, hatch, layer thickness, exposure strategies, preheat) to achieve high density and repeatability;
- they delve into the metal materials for AM (aluminium alloys, titanium, steels, nickel alloys) and related heat and stress relief treatments;
- they plan supports and orientation of the pieces, manage post-processes (dust removal, cutting, finishing, machining) and experiment with basic quality controls (metrology and NDT);
- follow the whole functional architecture.
The laboratory is equipped with a complete set of tools that reproduce a real laboratory environment. industrial additive manufacturing, characterized by:
PBF/SLM printing systems
- Print Sharp 150
Compact machine with fully open parameters for research and process optimization activities. - Print Genius 150
Ideal for studying scanning strategies, productivity and quality on complex components.
Pre-processing and powder management
- AS300 sieve shaker for granulometric analysis and sieving of metal powders, essential to ensure uniformity of the powder bed.
- Glove box in AISI 316L for safe handling of powders, connected to the process chamber with dedicated connections and provision for suction.
- Vacuum oven DZF-6090 for drying powders (10–250 °C), improving fluidity and application quality.
- ATEX zone 22 industrial vacuum cleaner with antistatic and HEPA H14 filters, dry/wet kit for the safe management of reactive materials.
Professional software
- Magics Print Metal (Materialise BPP)
Build Processor for the Print 150 series with full access to process parameters (power, speed, strategies, hatch, downskin/upskin) and optimized parameter packages for aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys and stainless steels. - Materialize Magics
for importing and repairing files (STL and other formats), orienting parts and nesting on plates, generating metal supports and lattice structures, and exporting jobs to machines via Build Processor.
COURSE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
